How long does your Belgian Liquid Chocolate stay melted?

Once you melt the chocolate in the microwave or double boiler, it will stay warm for about 30 minutes prior to pouring it into the fountain. All domestic fountains have a heat element to keep the chocolate melted.

If you need to have the chocolate melted more than 30 minutes prior to using, place the chocolate in a fridge bag, wine bag or a polystyrene box to contain the heat. This should keep the chocolate melted longer.

If you are using a bowl to serve the chocolate, please use a microwaveable bowl. This way you can melt the chocolate once it starts to harden. Liquid Chocolate is PURE Belgian chocolate, so it will go hard as time goes. How fast will depend on the temperature in the room, on average 20 – 30 minutes for it to go hard.

What if all the Belgian Liquid Chocolate is not used?

If you did not use all the chocolate in the container, simply put the lid back on and use next time. Remember to re-melt the chocolate; 1kg of chocolate is 1 minute on high in the microwave. If you have less than 1kg you will need to adjust the melting time in microwave.

How do we store the Belgian Liquid Chocolate?

Ideally, chocolate should be stored in a slightly cool, dry, dark place. The perfect environment would be 16 to 24 degrees Celsius, have low humidity (less than 50 %), be out of direct sunlight, and away from any other foods or substances with strong odours that could be absorbed by the chocolate.

Frequent exposure to high temperatures can cause the cocoa butter in chocolate to raise to the surface, creating “bloom,” an unpleasant cloudy grey colour. This is a superficial flaw that can be corrected by melting and properly tempering the chocolate. However, in addition to bloom, white chocolate can go rancid when exposed to strong light, which will greatly affect the flavour and quality of the chocolate.

How many people does a 1kg tub of Belgian Liquid Chocolate serve in a fountain?

This depends on how chocoholic your friends are.  However on an average 1kg of chocolate can serve an approximately 20 people. Just remember, the first initial chocolate you pour into the fountain will take about 500gms to 750gms of chocolate to run.

Also, if you have a lot of other sweets, such as a lolly buffet, you can serve more people.
